The City of Tustin is currently recruiting for two positions for Assistant or Associate Engineer, depending on qualifications. The vacancies are assigned to the Transportation and Water divisions of our Public Works Engineering Department. Under general (Assistant) or limited (Associate) supervision, performs responsible, complex and professional civil engineering and administrative work in the field or office associated with the design, development, investigation, construction and maintenance of public works and/or water utility facilities; and performs related duties as assigned.
Assistant Engineer: This class is characterized by its responsibility for the performance of professional engineering work of average difficulty. It differs from the Associate Engineer class by the latter’s responsibility for independent engineering analysis and project management responsibilities.
Associate Engineer: This is the journey to advanced journey level class in the professional civil engineering class series. Incumbents work independently on assignments and may be involved in planning, managing, and/or directing the work of junior or assistant engineering staff and/or consultants.
